Prof. Ayhan DİNÇKAN, M.D. - Transplantologist Specialist in Turkey, India
Born in 1972, Ayhan Dinçkan completed his surgical specialization in 2004 at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery after completing his medical doctor education. He became an Assistant Professor in the field of general surgery in 2007, an Associate Professor in 2009 and a Professor in 2014 in the same department. After completing his multiorgan transplant (kidney-liver and pancreas transplants) and hepato-pancreato-biliary (liver, bile ducts and pancreas) surgery training at the Organ Transplantation Center between 2004-2007, he continued his duty as a faculty member in his department. He was appointed as the director of Akdeniz University Organ Transplantation Center and Institute in 2011. During his tenure, the first double arm, face and uterus transplants of the country were performed at the center. However, he touched the new lives of countless people with his main duty, intra-abdominal vital organ transplants.
During this 15-year period, it has performed countless kidney transplants, and pediatric transplants, in which 50 children are transplanted annually, constitute 15% of these numbers. In addition to efforts to increase organ donation in order to expand the organ pool, in addition to approaches such as the use of marginal organs in the cadaver donor system and crossover transplantation in the living donor system, desensitization in immunologically risky patients (high PRA), this experience includes case examples such as kidney transplantation from the oldest donor, dual transplants from marginal donors and transplantation to low-weight children, and en bloc kidney transplants from small pediatric cadaver donors. In pancreas transplants performed in type 1 diabetes patients with chronic renal failure, there is experience in both simultaneous kidney-pancreas and sequential kidney-pancreas transplants. In living donor transplant surgeries, all donor surgeries are performed with the fully transabdominal laparoscopic method.
During this period, he has experience in over 1000 liver transplants, mostly with living donors, 10-15% of which are children. Again, in order to expand the organ pool, he has experience in the use of marginal organs in the cadaver donor system and crossover liver transplants (adult-adult/adult-child) in the living donor system. He also has experience in pancreas transplantation and combined transplants in the pancreas-kidney, kidney-heart, kidney-liver fields, as well as liver transplantation-coronary bypass combined surgery.
In addition to liver-kidney-pancreas transplantation studies, he serves patients in the field of hepatobiliary surgery, which includes the treatment of cancer and other surgical diseases of these organs.
In short; Dr. has experience in cadaver and living donor transplants in the adult and pediatric age group, numerous liver, kidney-pancreas and combined transplants, and hepatobiliary surgery. Dinçkan has been a faculty member at the Department of General Surgery at İstinye University Faculty of Medicine, part of the Medikalpark Health Group since 2017.
He also serves as the Head of Organ Transplantation Center at İstinye University Bahçeşehir Liv Hospital.
He has nearly 100 international and national publications in his field.
