Dr. ÖZTÜRK was born in 1982 and graduated from Istanbul Marmara University in 2007, He completed his neurosurgery training between 2009-2014. In 2014, at the United States Harvard Medical School Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Prof. Dr. He continued his education in the field of Functional Neurosurgery (Movement Disorders – Epilepsy Surgery – Neuromodulation Surgeries) under the supervision of Ron L. ALTERMAN. He
received the title of Assistant Professor in 2016, Associate Professor in 2019 and Professor in 2025. Since 2015, mainly dealing with Functional Neurosurgery surgeries, Dr. Since then, OZTURK has performed more than 500 deep brain stimulation surgeries, mainly for Parkinson’s disease, dystonia disease and essential tremor patients.
He is also the first physician to perform deep brain stimulation surgery in diseases such as drug-resistant epilepsy and treatment-resistant major depression in Russia, the Middle East, the Balkans, Turkey and the Turkic Republics.
Dr. Sait ÖZTÜRK is a physician who has successfully performed the surgical treatment of over 600 patients in the treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy. He is the physician who has applied the most surgical treatment in recent years in epilepsy surgeries, especially in epilepsy (vagal nerve stimulation) surgery. He is also a physician who provides surgical support in many countries in vagal nerve stimulation (VNS) surgery and successfully undertakes the treatment of patients from many different countries of the world. The first preferred educator in international VNS meetings is academician. There is 100% patient satisfaction and surgical success rate in epilepsy surgery. Physician’s complication rate is below 1% in all mentioned surgical procedures, and the average of surgical complications in
this type of functional surgery is between 5-23% in the literature.
Stereotactic brain biopsy experience was again over 300 cases, and the complication rate was 0% and the pathological diagnosis rate was 97%. This high success and low complication rates have been reported, especially by prioritizing multidisciplinary work.
Doctor OZTURK has been invited as a specialist speaker to more than 65 international workshops or congresses in the last 5 years, has been hosted in many countries for functional brain surgeries, and has helped colleagues and patients in different countries. As of 2023, it has provided services with high success rates in the functional surgical treatment of over 1200 patients from 45 different countries.
He has published over 80 international scientific studies, authored many book chapters, and edited many books in the field of neuromodulation. He currently serves as a referee for many SCI journals. He is a member of EANS (European Society of Neurosurgery) and TND (Turkish Neurosurgery Association) and a board member of the Stereotactic Functional-Pain and Epilepsy Group.
