Dr. Vinay Kumaran in 2010 performed the first living donor intestinal transplant in India and has an experience of over 700 liver transplants and over 35 Pancreas, Intestinal and Multivisceral Transplants.
Dr. Vinay Kumaran was associated with Sri Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi as Director Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation since 2007 before joining our Hospital.
Dr. Kumaran joined the Marion Bessin Liver Research Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York as a post doctoral fellow working on Hepatocyte Transplantation. Two years working on basic research yielded publications in high impact journals like Nature Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Dr. Kumaran did his fellowship in Transplant Surgery, Thomas Starzl Transplantation Institute at the University of Pittsburgh Medical. This incorporated training in liver, kidney, pancreas, small bowel and multivisceral transplantation over 2 years. He spent an elective 3rd year focusing on living donor liver transplantation and difficult liver transplants including second and third liver transplants.
