He completed his MBBS from G B Pant Hospital / Moulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi in the year 1978. He later went on to pursue DCH from the same G B Pant Hospital / Moulana Azad Medical College. Dr. Shyam Kukreja added to his qualification by doing MD in Pediatrics from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi.
