The origin of Dr. Franklin's Panchakarma Centre has been traced back up to 400 years were the forefathers of Dr. Franklin had been serving the natives with Ayurvedic medication. Dr. Franklin was born and brought up in this traditional Ayurvedic medical family. Academically qualified by completing degree and postgraduate degree in a similar field, Dr. Franklin had been recruited by the Kerala Government and worked up to the post of Chief District Medical Officer. After his voluntarily retirement he joined as Physiotherapist for Qatar football team and found that the Ayurveda is very effective for treating foreigners. Returning to India Dr. Franklin started an Ayurveda center at Hotel Neptune in 1980. Domestic and international tourists experienced the healing touch of Ayurveda and its preventive and rejuvenating effects.

The dream for an exclusive Ayurveda center has been accomplished by inaugurating "Dr. Franklin's Panchakarma Institute & Research Centre" in 1997 at Chowara. This centre is registered as 'Ribis Health Care Pvt Ltd' as per the Indian Company Act.

Dr. Sony Joseph BAMS, Senior Consultant: Dr.Sony Joseph who has more than 15Yrs of experience in the field of Ayurveda and Panchakarma procedure is directing the center from 2004. The Centre also is blessed with hard work of Dr. Soumya Franklin (daughter of Dr. Franklin) ( 7 years experience), Dr. Ajith Kumar, ( 12 years experience) Dr.Udayashanker ( 10 years experience), Dr.Jithin (2years experience) and Dr.Ravinarayanan (15Yrs of experience), 65 therapists, 4 Ayurveda nursing staff.

To ensure the quality of oils and herbal preparations using for treatments, own a medicine-manufacturing unit and a Pharmacy. We are using the medicines from well-reputed Ayurveda pharmacies.

Restaurant

The property has one completely vegetarian restaurant with a seating capacity for 110 guests. Since all the clients come for Ayurvedic treatments, the menu is based on Ayurvedic principles (Vata, Pitta & Kapha), and special foods are prepared based on Physicians recommendations. The Chef Mr.Sadananthan has experience of more than 15yrs and the food quality is excellent for treatment purpose.

The restaurant will not serve any alcohol and smoking is prohibited throughout the property.

Ayurveda Experience

On arrival at the Centre after check-in, you will be given a time for the first medical consultation with the Doctor. The doctor will give a small introduction to understand the basic principle of Ayurveda and will ask you questions to ascertain your Prakruthi (Type/Constitution) and Vikruthi (Imbalance). Based on the Pulse diagnosis and information collected the doctor will decide the best suitable Ayurveda treatment programme. He will also prescribe you some medication if needed and will give you a copy of treatment plan, diet and instruction which you will have to follow throughout the stay. You may also be advised to join the daily Yoga classes (7.00 am - 8.30 am) it would cost around 7€ for Yoga. For additional individual classes, it would cost around 15€ for Yoga, a short meditation session is included in daily Yoga sessions.

Based on your treatment chart you may get you first treatment the very first day or the next day.

General Information

Please bring the medical reports (if any) for consultation.
During your stay, here you will get herbal preparations and Ayurveda vegetarian diet to follow during the treatment period.
Generally, duration of treatment is 2.00 to 3.00 hrs/day. (Treatment will be everyday).
Per day treatment consists of One Massage Rejuvenation or General or Marma or Synchronised and other treatment procedures .
An Ayurvedic diet will be issued after the consultation (The diet contains varieties of Ayurvedic food).
The result varies from patient to patient, as per the body constitution, age of patient, duration of the disease, etc
We do not allow smoking and drinking alcohol, beer, food from outside within our premise.

The doctor will meet you every day for a checkup and to keep a track of your progress. On the last day, you will be given a final check and will be given instruction to be followed back home and medication if needed.

The treatments plans are always decided after the initial consultation with the doctor and can change based on the condition and progress of the patients during the treatments.

We offer treatments for various problems like Arthritis, Asthma, Backache, Hepatitis, Diabetes, different skin diseases, Frozen Shoulders, Gastric disorders, Hemorrhoids, Infertility of both Men and Women, Burnouts, Sleeping Disorders, Special treatments for chemotherapy rehabilitation and Immune deficiency disorders, etc.

As treatments differ from persons to person we do not offer any predefined packages but the best suitable treatment programme will be prepared after the first detailed consultation by our medical team.

People undergoing treatment will get special herbal preparations, lifestyle recommendations, etc. Patients can enquire the possibility of treatment for their problems by email.

Way to wellness (minimum 14 DAYS): This Ayurveda treatment programme intends to relax, rejuvenate and regain energy your mind and body. This programmes includes special Ayurveda massages like Rejuvenation massage, Marma massage, Synchronised Massage and treatments like Sirodhara, Pizhichil, Kizhi, Face pack, medicated steam bath, etc after the consultation.
Swasa Kasa Chikilsa (For Lungs): ( Duration: minimum 3 weeks ): A special treatment to increase the strength of your lungs. This package is very beneficial for one having Bronchial Asthma, prolonged etc. It will strengthen the lungs and will prevent the attack of such ailments. This includes Body Massage, Vamanam, Urovasthi, Kashaya Vasthi, Pizhichil, Gnavarakizhi etc. along with internal Ayurvedic medicines.
Rejuvenation Therapy ( Rasayana Chikilsa ): ( 5 days onwards): This treatment includes body massage with hands and foot by medicated oil and cream. It includes internal rejuvenative medicines and medicated steam bath. This therapy is for 90 minutes to 2 hours per day for 7-14 days. It is good to rejuvenate mind, body and soul, to one-up skin, to strengthen all system so as to achieve ideal health and longevity.
Body Purification Therapy (Shodhana Chikilsa): ( minimum 10days+): It is a process of purifying the whole body to attain proper balance of Vatha, Pitha and Kapha on Panchakarma and Swetakarma treatment. This will also purify the gunas and doshas of mind viz. Satwa, Rajas and Thamas. The 15 days package process include body massage, Snehapanam, Nasyam, Virechanam (medicated Purgative) Sneha Vasthi, Kashaya Vasthi, Pizhichil, Gnavarakizhi, Tharpanam, Sirovasthi, Karnapoornam, Medicated steam bath.
You & Your Spine: ( Duration : minimum 3 weeks ): This is a special treatment package for your spine problems. It will strengthen the back muscles and prevent degeneration of bones; it can also prevent nerve compression. This is very good for Spondylosis, post-traumatic problems (post accidental) sports injuries etc. This treatment includes Body Massage, Snehapanam, Virechanam, Kadi Vasthi, Sneha Vasthi, Kashaya Vasthi, Pizhichil, Gnavarakizhi etc.
Body, Mind & Soul: ( Duration: minimum 2 weeks ): An absolute stress reliever with a combination of Yoga Meditation, Ayurveda and Holistic touches. Through this programme your body and mind are purified and more important attains the temperance of mind.
Body Immunization / Longevity Treatment ( Duration: 21 to 28 days ):: This is the prime treatment in AYURVEDA for reducing ageing process, arresting the degeneration of body cells and to immunize the body. Giving Rasayana (very special AYURVEDIC Medicine) internally is the main part of the programme, based on Panchakarma and Swetakarma treatment. This package includes Body Massage, Snehapanam, Vamanam, Virechanam, Nasyam, Sneha Vasthi, Kashaya Vasthi, Pizhichil, Gnavarakizhi, Tharpanam, Sirovasthi, Karnapooranam, Medicated Steam Bath, Yoga and Meditation.
Slimming Programme Duration: Minimum 21days: This programme includes massage, intake of herbal juice, herbal preparations and some minor exercises. A special AYURVEDIC diet is advised during this period, this includes two types of massage. ∙ Medicated Herbal Powder Massage ∙ Medicated Herbal Oil Massage
Beauty Care Programme: 10days: This programme includes massage with oil, powder and cream, bodypack, face pack, herbal tea etc. It increases your skin complexion and beautifies the body figure.
Panchakarma Chikilsa ( Full Course ): Duration: 28 to 51 days: It is a process of purifying the whole body to attain proper balance of Vatha, Pitha and Kapha based on Panchakarma and Swetakarma treatment in our traditional way. This package includes Body Massage, Snahapanam Vamanam, Virechanam, Nasyam, Sneha Vasthi, Sirovasthi, Brahmana Vasthi, Dhara, Pizhichil, Gandoosam, Medicated Bath, Medicated Steam Bath etc.

Since expert and well-experienced Physicians supervise treatments the duration of treatment and its type & frequency of individual treatment process is fixed on the first detailed consultation.
Being a genuine treatment Centre we assert great importance for the intake of proper food items by the patients under treatment. After the first detailed consultation, Doctors prepares per day treatment plan and an Ayurvedic vegetarian diet chart to follow during the treatment days. (This diet contains varieties of vegetarian food items)
