M1b indicates that the tumour has spread to other parts of the patient’s body.

Low-grade malignancies are classified as G1 and G2, whereas high-grade tumours are classified as G3 and G4.

MSTS Staging System

It categorises cancer tumours based on three factors: G represents the cancer grade, T represents the primary tumor’s extent, and M represents the degree of metastasis. The MSTS method, like the TNM system, aims to make identifying and diagnosing complicated malignant tumours easier.

Depending on whether or not the cells have moved outside the bone, the initial tumor’s extent, T, might be intra-compartmental or extra-compartmental. Malignancies that have migrated to neighbouring bone structures are known as extra-compartmental cancers.

Whether or not the tumour has spread to other organs is determined by the degree of metastasis. M0 means it hasn’t spread yet, whereas M1 means it has spread to surrounding organs.
